Jelle De Vos and Agata Kryj win Best Poster Award at HPLC 2019

25/06/2019 - 10:15

Dr. Jelle De Vos (postdoc at the Eeltink research group) and MSc. Agata Kryj (promotor: Prof. Dr. Ir. W. De Malsche) from the Department of Chemical Engineering (CHIS) received the Best Poster Award at the 48th International Symposium on High-Performance Liquid Phase Separations and Related Techniques (HPLC 2019).

Dr. De Vos presented a poster entitled “Assessment of bed and particle integrity of size-exclusion columns packed with sub-2-µm particles”. In this contribution, he linked chromatographic results to porosimetry data of 1.7 µm particles in order to study the degradation of the bed structure of aqueous size-exclusion columns operated at high pressures. MSc. Kryj presented her poster on “Development of glass-based microchips for electrochromatographic separations”, in which she highlights the performance of a miniaturized separation platform in CEC mode. The microchip consists of a radially elongated pillar array column, and various aspects of the device, including column design and flow simulations, were studied using COMSOL Multiphysics and experimentally.

HPLC 2019 is the most important international conference in the field of high-performance liquid phase separations and related techniques. At this conference, the fundamental and practical aspects of separation science are discussed, with the main focus on new highly relevant trends that are emerging in this field.
