Prof. Gert Desmet elected as best Separation Scientist and Leader in the field of analytical science

The Department of Chemical Engineering of VUB is proud to announce that Prof. Gert Desmet figures prominently in three different top tens in the latest edition of the Power List of the trade journal “The Analytical Scientist”. With its Power List 2017, the Analytical Scientist identifies the top 100 most influential people in the world of analytical science, this year with top 10 lists in different categories.

Prof. Gert Desmet ranks number one in two categories: he stands out in the list of separation scientists and in the list of leaders, indicating analytical champions who influence the progress of measurement science. Furthermore, Prof. Desmet was voted number 7 in the Top 10 of mentors who inspire the next generation of scientists.

Gert Desmet is full professor, and head of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Vrije Universiteit Brussels. His research aims at innovating chemical measurement systems by invoking the latest innovations in micro- and nanofabrications and a rational design based on theoretical modelling.
