Welcome

Molecular Electrostatic Potentials

From October 21-23 2014 Professor Shridar R. Gadre (Department of Chemistry IIT, Kanpur, India) will visit the ALGC Research Group. Professor Gadre has been one of the most renowned workers in the field of Electrostatic Potentials and so, instead of simply asking him to give a seminar, we came up with the idea to organize a one-day symposium on Electrostatic Potentials and related subjects as they still are of prominent importance (both from the fundamental and applied aspect) in present day Quantum Chemistry. This symposium will be organized under the auspices of the Fund for Scientific Research-Flanders (FWO) Research Network on Quantum Chemistry: fundamental and applied aspects of Density Functional Theory; an association started in 1997 by the ALGC group to promote the interaction among Belgian groups and between Belgian and foreign groups in their research on fundamental and applied aspects of DFT. Nowadays all Flemish Quantum Chemistry Groups are member, as are groups from the French speaking part of the country and 9 foreign groups (for details see:  http://we.vub.ac.be/~algc – FWO research network).

In this one day symposium, to be held in Brussels on Wednesday October 22, we would like to give the floor to some top experts in the field, to give a talk on their recent research related to Electrostatic Potentials. A selection was made between senior and junior scientists with particular attention to contributions by Flemish Scientists (now abroad or still in Flanders) and the foreign colleagues they are colaborating with.

We look forward to welcoming you at MEP2014!
