Analytical instruments - GEOL

The stable isotope faciltiies hosted by the Geology and Analytical Chemistry depts are unique in Belgium, and intensely used for research projects in various field of the geo- and the environmental sciences.

The facility is accessible to the Flanders, Belgian and international geoscientists through collaborative research efforts.

Stable isotope lab: H, O, C, N isotopes are routinely analyzed.

Peripherals include a Kiel III carbonate device for automatically processing carbonate samples, elemental

analyser for C & N in organic matter and dissolved gas a gas chromatography unit for isotopic characterization of compound-

specific biomarkers and a customized Thermo HiperTOC Analyzer for stable isotope determination on dissolved organic carbon
