A consortium of Belgian, British and French scientists, including physicists from the VUB, has deployed a new kind of neutrino detector at the BR2 research reactor of SCK•CEN in Mol. After the discovery of the Higgs boson, the researchers are getting closer to achieve one of the biggest challenges in Science: detecting a new kind of elementary particle, the sterile neutrino.

20 december 2017 : De CMS collaboratie op CERN is verheugd de release bekend te maken van de derde reeks hoge-kwaliteit open data van de CMS-detector bij de Large Hadron Collider (LHC), beschikbaar op de CERN Open Data-portal . 

Deze versie bevat datasets die zijn gebruikt om het Higgs-deeltje te ontdekken en de gegevens zijn beschikbaar in hetzelfde formaat dat CMS-wetenschappers gebruiken voor onderzoek. CMS levert ook kleinere, vereenvoudigde gegevensreeksen voor educatief gebruik. De gegevens zijn vrijgegeven voor het publieke domein onder de Creative Commons licentie.

This is valid for the standard multiplication of numbers but fails for many other kinds of product, such as for example the product of matrices or the rotation of solids.
