Wen-Juan is an evolutionary geneticist and genomicist. Her lab is overall interested in how sexual conflicts and genetic conflicts are resolved. The lab aims to understand the related following questions across a wide range of (primarily non-model) organisms in various animals, plants, and fungi systems.
How do sex chromosomes evolve? Why and how do sex chromosome evolutionary trajectories differ so dramatically across eukaryotes? How is sex determined during the early embryo development? Why do sex-determining mechanisms evolve across lineage and across the tree of life? How do genetic, epigenetic, and/or environmental factors interact to determine sex?
The lab is funded by ERC Starting Grant and is currently recruiting PhD and Postdoc researchers. Please see the details via the lab webpage: http://www.wmalab.com
